If you really want hear about it...

I decided to design a book jacket for what I believe is the all time best, and true, great american novel. The original jacket is fantastic, and I followed its lead a bit. However, I focused on Holden's beloved red cap, a symbol of clinging to his quickly escaping youth and innocence.
Some people never "get" this book, I guess they just don't identify with Holden the way the rest of us do. The way I see it is like Holden says, "What really knocks me out is a book that, when you're all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn't happen much, though."
